Looking back at the Winter Hoot in photos

When Gina Gould, director of the Ashokan Center in Olivebridge, New York, welcomed guests to the 5th Annual Winter Hoot, she reminded them that the Ashokan Center provides a place where people can learn about nature, and music—but most importantly, themselves. The Winter Hoot weekend was no exception. Inspirational moments, like Natalie Merchant inviting a group of children on stage to sing with her and Mike + Ruthy joining Sarah Lee Guthrie to sing a rendition of her late grandfather’s tune “This Land is Your Land,” created an atmosphere where the audience could not only meet their neighbor, but join hands as a community—sometimes literally (we’re looking at you, square dance).

Below are some of our favorite moments from the weekend—along with beautiful scenery that the Ashokan Center never fails to provide in abundance.
